I heard this "poem" by Kabir for the very first time during my Masters of Wisdom Teacher Training certification program with davidji. It touched me deeply at the core of my soul ~ it was an answer to a prayer I uttered for many years.
Imagine making conscious contact with "God", "Source Energy", "Divine Intelligence", "Divine Source of Love", "Buddha" - through the breath and discovering it is not only with you always but it is YOU?!
When we quiet our minds and slow things down a bit we come to that still point where we begin to notice through awareness that there's something much bigger at play here. In this very moment. We're not sure what it is necessarily but we sense it, feel it 'sometimes'... long to know it more often and more deeply. That longing never quiets down until we meet. And once we meet, we understand what the Masters know.
For years I doubted my worthiness of this relationship so I kept on searching. That is until that moment only a few years ago where we met. Still to this day this revelation, this grace of knowing, humbles me and on some days I cry from the sheer joy of the knowing. I found "it" not in striving - not looking - not pushing against something I didn't want - but by becoming still - by quieting my mind - by listening to the silence - that whisper - I found my
SELF in the "breath inside my breath" - and it has made all the difference in my life.
May you be graced with this knowing ~
“Are you looking for me?
I am in the next seat.
My shoulder is against yours.
you will not find me in the stupas,
not in Indian shrine rooms,
nor in synagogues,
nor in cathedrals:
not in masses,
not in legs winding around your own neck,
nor in eating nothing but vegetables.
When you really look for me,
you will see me instantly —
you will find me in the tiniest house of time.
Kabir says: Student, tell me, what is God?
He is the breath inside the breath.”
